If you had your radio on a country station like KTCS or KMAG in the 1990’s, it was hard to miss Hal Ketchum. With great hits like “Small Town Saturday Night”, he created some of the ballads that defined growing up in Arkansas or anywhere in the South.

In recent weeks, his family cancelled a number of upcoming tour dates. Today they answered the question of why.

The news comes just a week after the country music world lost Earl Thomas Conley, whose family revealed that he was also suffering from the same types of illnesses before being placed in hospice several weeks ago.
