FORT SMITH – The National Weather Service in Tulsa says area residents can expect severe weather on Friday night.
“A thunderstorm complex is expected to develop over southwest Kansas and northwest Oklahoma Friday evening and spread into eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Late Friday night.” Forecasters said. “Some of the storms could be strong to severe with strong gusty winds the main concern.”
Meteorologists say the thunderstorm concern may linger into the weekend.
“Thunderstorms are expected to redevelop Saturday Afternoon and Evening in the vicinity of any left over outflow boundaries from the morning storms and a frontal boundary moving into the area.” the Forecast office said. “Again, any of these storms could become severe with damaging winds, large hail and even a few tornadoes possible. Locally heavy rain is also possible. More Thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday as the frontal boundary lingers in the area.”
