FORT SMITH – The National Weather Service is expecting the possibility of severe weather through most of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas heading into Tuesday afternoon and evening.

“Thunderstorms will develop across western Kansas Tuesday afternoon then organize into a complex and track east-southeast toward northeast Oklahoma after midnight. Damaging winds will be the main threat along with locally heavy rainfall.”

Meteorologists say a brief dry and warm period returns Thursday and Friday with increasing thunderstorm chances next weekend.
