SPRINGDALE – Northwest Arkansas’ Cross Church didn’t have to look too far to find the successor for outgoing pastor Dr. Ronnie Floyd. The Springdale based Baptist fellowship announced Sunday afternoon that his son Dr. Nick Floyd will succeed him in the senior pastor position.
The younger Floyd has been on the staff of the four campus church for the last decade, having served as Campus Pastor for their Fayetteville location.
Donnie Smith, a member of the church’s board of directors released the news in a video on Sunday, saying that Nick Floyd was a logical choice for the position, having grown up in the congregation.
Dr. Ronnie Floyd announced one week ago that he would be leaving Cross Church to become the President/CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Board, which is a position based in Nashville, Tennessee. He had served at the church, formerly known as First Baptist Church of Springdale, since 1987. He has also served as President of the Southern Baptist Convention.
During his time at the church, it became one of the most widely attended fellowships in the region. The church has been in the spotlight over the years, with many of their services broadcast nationwide on religious networks such as Daystar and nationwide television stations such as WGN in Chicago.
The transition is expected to take place in May.
