TULSA – The National Weather Service says that Wednesday could be a day for a massive outbreak of severe weather across the region. Forecasters with the Tulsa office issued a preliminary discussion about the potential for destructive weather early Sunday.

” A strong storm system will arrive in the Plains on Wednesday. There is a risk for strong to severe storms, primarily in the afternoon and evening. The main hazards will be large hail and damaging winds.” Meteorologists said. “There will be a tornado risk near the surface warm front, which may be somewhere across northern Oklahoma into Kansas.”

Prior to Wednesday, forecasters say that strong winds could usher in fire danger in much of the region. The severe weather event is expected to be followed by cooler temperatures heading into next weekend.
