Martin Smith, 88, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019. He was born April 26, 1930 in Larned, Kansas to the late Clarence and Nellie (Unruh) Smith. He enjoyed fishing, football, traveling, horses and especially golf. He was a resident of Larned, KS for 62 years, he moved to Hot Springs, AR in 1994 and then to Poteau, OK. He owned and operated Martin’s for Men and was in the men’s clothing business 36 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served 4 years in the US Air Force, he was a member of Harvest Time Church in Fort Smith since 1994, a member of the American Legion since 1954. Martin loved Jesus Christ and made a number of trips with his wife to Roca Blanca Mexico to minister to students of Victory Latin America Outreach, a missionary base established by Iva Mae’s brother pastor Duane Kershnek. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Iva Mae, two sons Craig and Kyle Smith, three brothers Homer Smith, Allan Smith, and Vernon Smith, three sisters; Cleo Buller, Eloise Smith and Velda Boyt. He is survived by granddaughter Jagan and husband Clay Glover of Poteau, OK Daughter in law Teresa Smith of Wister, OK, great-grandchildren McKinzy, Kannon and Kaston Glover and several close friends.
