WEST FORK – Many of those heading to Arkansas’ home basketball game against Vanderbilt on Saturday night never made it to the game, after a reported 20-car pileup snarled traffic to a stop for over four hours.

The crash happened at 5:45 PM just south of the West Fork exit on Interstate 49 northbound.

57-year-old Joseph Palasak of Rogers was killed when he exited his vehicle on an icy bridge and was subsequently struck by an out of control vehicle. Troopers on the scene say he was thrown over the side of the bridge upon impact.

Drivers in the northbound lanes began moving just before 10:00 PM.
